Stamp Out Hunger
Volunteers Needed - Saturday, May 13, 2017
Each second Saturday of May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations and coordinate with food pantries for distribution to those in need. Last year, tens of thousands of items were brought into Midland's postal docks, loaded up and distributed to local pantries. The portion that went to SAMS Pantry alone was over 7,000 items!!!
The volunteer effort to pull this off has to be an awesome one! We need LOTS of able-bodied volunteers to process these thousands of items - checking package integrity & use by dates, sorting out discards and placing like items together for easier stocking later.
This effort begins at 3:30 PM. It typically takes 3 hours, but actual time will depend on amount of food donations and our ultimate number of volunteers.
