Stamp Out Hunger New Records
SAMS receives almost 8,000 donated items!
Thursday, May 18, 2017 - For St. John's Share A Meal Service (SAMS), the 2017 Stamp Out Hunger drive resulted in 7,981 items of food and personal care added to our pantry's available inventory. This is a 15% increase over our last year’s total of 6,939 items. This also represents over 10% of our annual food needs collected in a single day- WOW!
Here’s another valuable figure: 30 + awesome volunteers worked diligently through the afternoon to get our almost 8K items from the postal docks to SAMS, unpacked, date checked and sorted. We cannot thank them enough for their herculean effort to accomplish this.
Midland’s letter carriers (NALC Branch 2317) hauled tens of thousands of pounds of donations from local doorsteps to Midland's postal dock, making the distribution to food pantries across Midland County possible.
THANKS to ALL who participated by donating, hauling, checking, sorting and/or stocking... it all helps our Midland neighbors in need. THANK YOU MIDLAND! THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!!
A few fun photos from the afternoon are below. For more information about how you or your family members might help at other times of the year for SAMS Pantry or the Emergency Food Pantry Network, please contact Carol Sullivan, 631-2260 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
