A Message From Our Children & Youth Ministries Director
Welcome to the 2017-2018 Christian Formation year. This leaflet was compiled to help familiarize you with Children and Youth Formation at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
I want to thank you for entrusting your child(ren) to the nursery staff, volunteer teachers and me as we assist them in their journey with God. My prayer is that each child will have transforming experiences of God’s love at church and home.
It is my belief that children learn to pray by seeing others pray, whether those are prayers of petition, contrition, or thanksgiving. Children learn the meaning of love of neighbor by hearing people speak of others with respect and compassion and by watching people show mercy and generosity to those in need. So in very real ways we model what it means to be a follower of Christ each day in each and every experience.
The goal of religious formation is to work with parents, to assist children in experiencing God in their lives and to familiarize them with the beliefs and traditions of our Christian faith. We strive to creatively and conscientiously deal with scope and sequence, prayer, service, and community building.
