St. John’s Episcopal Church

Our Rector

The Rev. Rob Skirving

For the five years prior to coming to Midland, Rob served as rector of Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church, an historic parish in downtown London.  Along with these parish ministries, Rob has served the Diocese of Huron in many other capacities, including the leadership of diocesan youth and clergy conferences, and most recently as the part time Coordinator of Congregational Development.  For the following seven and a half years before that, he served the parish of St. Mark’s Church, in Brantford, where the challenges of growth led to a successful campaign to expand the worship and office facilities.

Rob and Sandy were married in 1986, and have since lived together in four parish communities in the Diocese of Huron where Rob has served as priest and Sandy has worked as a nurse.  For a short time after his graduation from seminary, Rob was assistant curate at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, London.  For four years, he then served in the multi-point parish of Church of the Advent, Ridgetown, Church of the Redeemer, Highgate, and Trinity Church, Howard Township, all in Kent County.  His continuing education has included academic course work in the philosophy of religion and participation in the Seabury Institute’s program of studies in congregational development.

Sandy has worked as a nurse in a variety of settings, from hospital to nursing home.  Her roles have varied from staff nurse to director of nursing.  At present, Sandy is a staff nurse at the Mid-Michigan Community Hospital.
