Text Box:

The Rev. Michael Hoover Wilson brings to the people of Midland and St. John's 39 years of full-time parochial ministry experience with concentration on care of seniors. Before retirement, Mike was Rector of Saint James Episcopal Church, Port Charlotte, Florida for 19 years. He served congregations in Ithaca, Elbridge, and Avon, New York. He received his BA from Sewanee, STM from Berkeley at Yale, and went on to complete the pastoral counseling program offered by the Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center in Syracuse. He then practiced counseling for a year at the Rochester Psychiatric Center while studying at Rochester's Bexley Hall Theological Seminary and working full time as Rector of Zion Church, Avon.

After 42 years of marriage, his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Weinman, died suddenly December 26, 2003. They had raised 3 children, Deborah, Michael Jr. and Katherine and have 4 grandchildren. On August 6, 2005, Mike and Patricia L. Phillips were married at St. John's and reside in Midland. Pat and Mary Louise were best friends throughout childhood and kept in touch over the years.

The son of The Rev. Clyde D. Wilson, an Episcopalian priest who grew up in Escanaba and Dorothy M. Neal of Mount Vernon, Iowa, Mike was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, grew up in Middletown, summered in Westbrook and attended secondary schools in Pomphret, Connecticut; Steubenville, Ohio; and Oak Park, Illinois.

Mike enjoys reading about the American Civil War and likes to visit battlefield memorials around the country. He's an amateur photographer and an unpublished writer.

Pat and Mike have decided to make Midland and St. John's their permanent home base in the autumn of life and look forward to many years of continued service to the community and fellowship with you all.
